WGN America’s Underground is a critical series that has brought in millions of viewers on a weekly basis as it tells the story of a group of slaves utilizing the Underground Railroad to reach freedom. So it was only a matter of time before viewers got to meet the conductor of the railroad, Harriet Tubman. 

After the first season finale introduced a woman named Harriet, it has been announced that Aisha Hinds will be playing Harriet Tubman as a main character in the second season. The 10 episode second installment will focus on the time leading up to the Civil War, according to Deadline.

“We don’t want to spoil too much, but the analogy we’ve been using is, you can’t tell the story of the Justice League without touching on Superman,” co-creator and executive producer Joe Pokaski said after the finale, according to Shadow and Act.

If you haven’t watched the first season of WGN America’s Underground, head to Hulu or DVR and remedy that. Season 2 is set up for release in early 2017.
