Last week the FBI announced the addition of Assata Shakur to the Most Wanted Terrorist list, and an increase of reward for her capture from $1 million to $2 million.

Much of the media coverage surrounding the life, case, and liberation of Assata has been false and misleading. It is extraordinarily important that we educate the public on the facts surrounding her persecution.

Join folks from across the country for Assata Teach-ins during the week of June 2nd – June 9th.

From Assata Teach-in:

Join us during the week of June 2 through June 9 for teach-ins about Assata Shakur’s life and her case. You can participate in two ways:

1. Organize a teach-in in your home, religious institution, workplace, school, or cultural space. Invite your friends, colleagues, and family. Document your teach-in by sending us photos, videos, and write-ups of what happened.

SIGN UP to organize a teach-in about Assata Shakur by May 24th.

As a teach-in organizer/host, you are responsible for identifying the location, date, and time for your event. You are also responsible for inviting the people who you want to attend. If you are willing to open your event up to others who want to attend, please indicate this when you sign up as an organizer/host.

When you have completed your event, please send all of your documentation to us at policeviolence2011@gmail.com so that we can post it on this site.

2. Attend a teach-in in your community and tell others too. We will provide a list of teach-ins that will be open to the public on this site on May 27th. Check in and find a teach-in in your community. RSVP to attend and then please do so.
