Black Lives Matter just made it that much harder for you not to support Black businesses this holiday season.

According to the Huffington Post Black Voices, BLM has launched a website that compiles the locations of Black businesses across the United States. BLM believes that backing Black business is a key component of making our voices heard and growing Black economic power. Therefore, BLM is committed to making these businesses more accessible to customers.

BLM has partnered with J. Walter Thompson New York, an advertising agency that reached out to BLM and agreed to do pro-bono work for the organization. BLM network co-founder Patrisse Cullors said in a statement, “We’re thrilled to partner with J. Walter Thompson and in particular this effort to uplift and sustain Black businesses. Right now, we need to invest in Black businesses more than ever.”

Cullors also noted that Black businesses are crucial in this difficult political moment. “Black-owned business have long been a staple in the Black community providing jobs, economic security and somewhere for us to go and feel seen and safe.”

The “Backing Black Businesses” beta website locates and lists the Black businesses in an area, in addition to nonprofits and online stores. Users can add a business by submitting their business’s information to the website.  Around 300 businesses are already posted on the site.
