On Saturday, black fathers across the nation will united for the Million Father March. The march, organized by fathers across the country, is supported by men, women and adults from all ethnic backgrounds.

It promotes’ fathers’ active involvement with their children’s education and overall well-being throughout the school year.

Parade participants include various student clubs, faith- and community-based organizations, neighborhood block clubs, parenting groups, bands, families, elected officials and other concerned people and organizations that wish to support this back-to-school initiative.

The 2014 Million Father March Parade will be held on Saturday, August 30th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. [In Chicago,] participants will line-up at 10:00 a.m. at 44th and Cottage Grove, and the parade route will follow Cottage Grove from 45th to 51st Street.  There will be a brief gathering for participants to network at the end of the parade route.
