As many of you know, Juneteenth is a day that celebrates the end of slavery in the United States.

What began in Texas in 1865 is now a holiday that many blacks commemorate:

Lil Wayne Addresses American Flag Controversy: “It was never my intention to desecrate the flag”

Yesterday, we told you about the controversy surrounding a recent Lil Wayne video that seemed to show the New Orleans rapper stepping all over the American flag.

Lil Wayne has responded to the controversy, releasing a statement earlier today.

Weezy says he had no intention of desecrating the American flag, and that the video that surfaced online captures a camera trick in progress.

Dave Chappelle to Headline Comedy Tour

Don’t you hate it when you log on to Twitter or Facebook and see that a friend of yours caught some impromptu, secret Dave Chappelle standup show?

Well, soon you’ll have the chance to see the reclusive comedian when he headlines a comedy tour sponsored by Funny or Die:

Funny or Die announced this morning that Chappelle, who has been infamously difficult to track down since he abruptly left his widely acclaimed Comedy Central show in 2005, will headline the website’s first (annual?) Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival.

Feds Recommend 4 Year Sentence for Jesse Jackson Jr; 18 Months for His Wife, Sandi

On July 3rd, Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife, Sandi Jackson will be sentenced for inappropriate use of campaign funds.

Today, federal prosecutors urged for a 4 year sentence for Jackson Jr., and 18 months for Sandi Jackson.

Their proposal allows for the Jackson to do their time back to back, allowing for at least one of them to always be available to take care of their two children.

Two Whole Foods Employees Suspended for Speaking Spanish

A Whole Foods Market in New Mexico is in the news for suspending two employees for allegedly speaking Spanish while they were on duty.

 

Bryan Baldizan says he and female employee were only speaking in Spanish regarding personal matters. They wrote a letter expressing their disagreement with the policy.

 

Whole Foods officials doubled down on the policy, and suspended them.
