Cincinnati Bengals help player with daughter’s medical treatment
The NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals decided to cut defensive tackle Devon Still from their roster last Saturday. However, the team re-signed Still to their practice squad, which allows him to keep medical insurance that will help him take care of his daughter Leah, who was diagnosed with pediatric cancer earlier this summer.
“They could have washed their hands with me and said they didn’t care about what I was going through off the field,” Still said. “It’s like a blessing in disguise for me.”
As a member of the Bengals’ practice squad, Still will receive medical insurance and a weekly salary of $6,300.
He will also be able to travel less, giving him more time to spend at home with Leah as she completes her treatment.
“We’re going to go to battle with cancer,” Still said. “She’s willing to put up a fight to beat it.”
Still announced his daughter’s condition on Instagram earlier this summer. He posted a photo of Leah last week on her way to start her fourth round of chemotherapy.
Kudos to the Cincinnati Bengals for helping ensure that 4-year-old Leah will receive the medical care she needs.
