Conservatives pushing for Ben Carson to run for president, surgeon says he ‘will listen’
Dr. Ben Carson is known throughout the world for his life-saving practices as one of Johns Hopkins University’s top neurosurgeons. Lately, he’s in the spotlight for his political views.
As a member of the Republican party, Carson said that he would “listen” to those urging him to run for president in 2016.
“As far as my running for public office, it was never my intention. I thought when I retired I was going to play golf and learn how to play the organ,” Carson told Newsmax’s Steve Malzberg. “But obviously the Good Lord had a different plan for me. And I will obviously listen but that is not what I really had intended to do.”
The National Draft Ben Carson for President Committee, one launched in support of Carson’s bid, announced Sunday that it has raised over $1 million so far. The committee’s petition has more that 204,000 signatures.
