In his recently released comedy special on Netflix, Dave Chappelle joked that he didn’t make an appearance in Flint, Mich. because he got an invitation to hang out with Chris Rock at the Academy Awards. It’s safe to say he felt he owed them a little something  because he recently donated $50,000 from a Michigan show to a Flint-based charity called The Community Foundation of Greater Flint.

“I’m honored that you guys came here tonight,” Chapelle said to the audience on June 7, according to TMZ. “I want you to know that just by coming to see me you supported this city. I’m not taking a dime.”

Chappelle is now one of many celebrities who has donated to help the residents of Flint work their way out of a water crisis that’s seemingly only Gotten more complicated to fix as time has gone on. This includes Black Panther director Ryan Coogler and Snoop Dogg.

Hopefully, all of this help will lead to even more and things will get back on track sooner rather than later.
