While promoting The Birth of a Nation at Sundance, Gabrielle Union took a moment to criticize those that feel there isn’t a need for movies or awards to highlight black people. To be specific, she criticized Stacey Dash, who she cleverly pretended to not know.

“Who’s that?” Union asked a reporter. “Who’s Stacey Dash? Is she, like, related to Dame Dash? Was she on Roc-A-Fella?”

This was obviously a response to Stacey Dash recently claiming that there’s no longer a need for Black History Month or BET – a channel she’s been featured on multiple times – because they only segregate people.

Union went on to speak about how “a crazy lady” incorrectly questioned why there’s a need for people to see themselves reflected in mainstream award shows and other mediums.
