A black Sacramento State University student and artist is being accused of reverse racism after going public with an exhibit depicting two white men being lynched on campus.

Christina Edwards, a senior at the university said she wanted to send a strong message about the social injustices faced by African Americans then and now.

From The Daily Mail:

“My choice to cross racial lines was intentional to create an open opportunity to personalize and empathize with his-story as a people and hopefully initiate compassion and change in terms of social and racial availability and equality,’ Edwards wrote. ‘The purpose of this performance was to bring to light social injustices and the issue of inequality that impacts me and my community as a whole.”

The performance had mixed reviews and despite Edwards claims of following all university procedures, Sacramento State says it did not approve of the art piece. The university’s president, Alexander Gonzalez told local media that he plans to “address multiple issues raised by the incident.”
