Jesse Williams, the Grey’s Anatomy star will produce and star in a Harry Belafonte biopic. During his appearance on the podcast Denzealots, which was created by comedians W. Kamau Bell and Kevin Avery, Williams talked about how he has a lot of projects coming up including the movie on the Civil Rights activist and notable actor, Harry Belafonte.

He began to discuss the projects he is working on after he was asked how it feels to be asked about his opinion on social issues because he has made a name for himself as an outspoken activist supporting the fight for racial justice. During the interview, he talked about how he cares more about activism than he does acting, but as a husband and father, he has to choose when to engage.

“I care more about activism and social justice and law than I do about acting. I have an awesome job that I love, but there’s this magnetic force that is constantly pulling me toward activism. I just have to do it” Williams said. “I’m a father now, I’ve got responsibilities, and there’s only 24 hours in a day.”

We can’t wait to see this movie because recently the biopic representation has been slacking. It will be rewarding to see an activist and actor playing another activist and actor. This is so important because Harry Belafonte’s legacy needs to be told in the loudest way possible.

Until we hear more information about this biopic, you can check out his interview on Denzealots.
