The U.S. Soccer World Cup campaign has appointed rapper and activist Lupe Fiasco to the position of music director for the league.

The Grammy Award-winning recording artist will provide an injection of hip-hop beats and lyrical hype ahead of next month’s World Cup in Brazil. 

From Major League Soccer:

Building on the “One Nation. One Team.” theme, Fiasco will collaborate with US Soccer in a variety of areas over the next six weeks. He will also create a public Spotify playlist and handle in-game music programming during the Send-Off Series.

The World Cup, now just 23 days from kickoff, won’t be Fiasco’s first foray into combining his music and love of soccer. In 2006, he performed his first major hit “Kick Push” during halftime of the MLS All-Star Game in his hometown of Chicago.
