“What I think is so wonderful about America is the fact that it’s a society of immigrants,” said Lupita Nyong’o in a video for the #IAmAnImmigrant campaign to remind Americans that we all come from an immigrant background.

Other celebrities supporting the campaign, which was put together by Welcome.us, with appearances from celebrities including Akon, Rosario Dawson, Wilmer Valderrama, Rosie Perez and many more recognizable faces.

“This Immigrant Heritage Month, the #IAmAnImmigrant campaign encourages all of us to explore our individual heritage & recognize our distinct and shared experiences,” said Iamanimmigrant.com. “We all have our piece in the American story, whether as a new immigrant, native to this land, a descendent of slavery or those who came to our nation seeking a better life.

“I don’t know of anybody that didn’t come over here from somewhere at some point,” said Bobby Cannavale.

The handful of personalities that all came together for the video and photo shoot – which was shot by Cary Fukunaga – aren’t the only ones coming together to deliver this message. There’s an open invitation out for everyone to show their support via social media and many already have.
