Michelle Obama To Address Gun Violence at Chicago’s Harper High School
Michelle Obama will be visiting Chicago today to talk gun violence at Harper High School on the city’s Southside.
Harper is one of many high schools deeply impacted by Chicago’s gun violence crisis; 29 students have been shot and 8 have died in the past year alone.
The First Lady will also speak about youth violence at a luncheon.
With Congress poised to begin debate Thursday on firearms restrictions, the White House is mounting a vigorous push for action this week.
President Barack Obama spoke Monday with families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims, who have launched a lobbying campaign of their own. Vice President Joe Biden is also promoting the administration’s plans this week.
