Get Ur Freak On (2001)

Silence when I spit it out…In your face…Open your mouth…Give you a taste

One of those moments in popular music where you’re left scratching your head; at once marveling at how well something works, and yet at the same time wondering how in the hell something so bizarre could ever possibly work? Pure genius.

One Minute Man (2001)

Break me off…Show me what you got…cause I don’t want no one minute man

Even the fellas had to mess with this one. The beat was too hot, the sentiment too real.

Take Away (2001)

I just want to be the perfect match. You don’t even have to ask.

Released as tribute to the late Aaliyah, “Take Away” is Missy’s best slow jam. A classy, tender, tear-jerking tribute to a fallen angel. Among her best.

Work It (2002)

Is it worth it? Let me work it. I put my thang down, flip it, and reverse it…

There’s breakdancing in a post-apocalyptic playground, a chorus played backwards, and Missy’s head covered in bees. By the time “Work It” dropped in 2002, Missy was making it look easy…

Pass That Dutch (2003)

Pop that, pop that, jiggle that fat. Don’t stop; get it til your clothes get wet!

At one point in the “Pass That Dutch” video, a group of plus-size ladies pull a grown man into the backseat of their hummer and eat him alive. Literally…eat him alive, and throw his bones out the window. “Pass That Dutch” may not be Missy’s most popular video, but she certainly hadn’t lost her edge…
