Schools are where families send their children to both learn and be kept safe for a few hours. At least, in theory. Unfortunately, there’s what appears to be a constant stream of children being out in harms way instead, no matter their age. The latest example of a child being put in danger while in the care of a school occurred in Youngstown, Ohio, according to WKBN.

In a photo taken by a colleague, a preschool teacher at Alta Head Start can be seen dragging a child down an empty hallway by their arm. The teacher in question was immediately fired after the incident was brought to the attention of the Youngstown School District. This understandably didn’t calm the concerns of parents.

“These fine teachers and aides should not be unfairly portrayed as anything less because of the person who was terminated,”Alta Care Group CEO Joseph Shorokey said.

Shorokey went on to say that the teacher’s actions don’t reflect the culture at Alta Head Start and were inexcusable.

Alta Head Start works with the Youngstown School District to 845 students as old as five years old.
