Penn State University will pay a total of $59.7 million to 26 victims of former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.

The school also indicated that more settlements could come in the future.

Sandusky was convicted of 45 counts of child sexual abuse in June 2012.

From CNN:

In all, 32 men have come forward to Penn State with claims of abuse. Some of those were rejected for lack of merit, Penn State said. “We hope this is another step forward in the healing process for those hurt by Mr. Sandusky, and another step forward for Penn State,” university President Rodney Erickson said in a statement. “We cannot undo what has been done, but we can and must do everything possible to learn from this and ensure it never happens again at Penn State.”
