According to a new Gallup poll, confidence in America’s public school system as hit an all-time low.

Only 29 percent of respondents expressed a “great deal” or “quite a lot” of confidence in public education.

“The number is now down 5 percentage points from last year and represents a 4 percent decrease from the previous lows in 2007 and 2008.

Public schools rank eighth with the criminal justice system in terms of American confidence categories.

Confidence in public schools remained fairly consistent across gender and age group. Twenty-six percent of white respondents indicated that they had a “a great deal” or “quite a lot” of confidence in the institution, compared to 36 percent of non-whites.”
