23 year-old youth minister Oscar Duncan was gunned down in his Compton neighborhood by four unknown assailants.

A popular mentor at the local Boys and Girls Club, and an aspiring singer nicknamed “Choir Boy,” family and friends are shocked and saddened by the loss of such an inspiring and persevering young man.

According to reports, incident occured after the four assailants jeered at Duncan’s girlfriend from their car. A gang name was allegedly shouted, followed by the single shot that killed Duncan.

Minutes before his death, Oscar tweeted a Bible passage:

And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart. And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
