R.I.P. Tupac Shakur

Today  marks the 15th anniversary of the untimely death of Tupac Shakur.

Nothing can be said that hasn’t already been said about his tragic demise. An artist of immense talent and intelligence, his passing was a loss from which our culture has  never truly recovered. Never again would a high-profile Hip Hop artist so brazenly and eloquently speak truth to power. It has been 15 years, and he is still dearly missed.

We’ll leave you with a truly insightful quote from Quincy Jones and one of Shakur’s most moving music videos.

“”The tragedy of Tupac is that his untimely passing is representative of too many young black men in this country….If we had lost Oprah Winfrey at 25, we would have lost a relatively unknown, local market TV anchorwoman. If we had lost Malcolm X at 25, we would have lost a hustler named Detroit Red. And if I had left the world at 25, we would have lost a big-band trumpet player and aspiring composer–just a sliver of my eventual life potential. “
