Yesterday we reported yet another senseless killing. This time, the story of 19-year-old Renisha McBride. McBride was shot in the back of the head while seeking help from a resident after a car wreck early Saturday morning.

Initial reports stated that the Detroit native was found by police on the outskirts of the city, in suburban Dearborn Heights. Her body was “dumped,” and she was “left to die.”

Now the cops are singing a different tune.

From Sandra Rose:

Local FOX affiliate WJBK even gave the exact location of where McBride’s body was found: near Warren and Outer Drive. McBride had been shot once in the head with a shotgun and left to die, police told her anguished aunt, Bernita Spinks.

Police now say McBride was shot by a homeowner in a case of self-defense. Her body was not dumped near Warren and Outer Drive in Deerborn Heights, as police had earlier reported; now they say she was found on the man’s front porch where she dropped after he shot her in defense of his home.

McBride’s family is calling the new claims by police a lie. Authorities have identified the man who shot McBride, but he has not been charged. In fact, he may able to claim immunity under the stand your ground defense.

Tragic.

The last time we checked, burglars don’t knock on doors and police usually don’t change their stories.
