The parents of six year-old kindergartener Salecia Johnson are outraged that their daughter was handcuffed by police for throwing a tantrum at school.

According to NewsOne, Salecia was out of control, throwing and breaking things, reportedly even injuring her principal. When the police arrived and Salecia allegedly refused to calm down, she was handcuffed.

There’s no doubt little Salecia was misbehaving and needed to be disciplined. But is it really called for to handcuff and arrest a six year-old child?

From NewsOne:

“Obviously, little Salecia’s parents were very upset.

‘A 6-year-old in kindergarten. They don’t have no business calling the police and handcuffing my child,’ said Earnest Johnson, Salecia’s father.

‘Call the police? Is that the first step? Or is there any other kind of intervention that can be taken to help that child?’ asked Candace Ruff.”
