A Pennsylvania high school graduation was brought to a complete standstill after a U.S. Army sergeant surprised his son at the ceremony.

U.S. Army Sgt. Owen Neuville was deployed to Afghanistan a few months ago, but he managed to arrive just in time for his son Dashaun’s big moment.

From ABC 7:

…as everyone else’s parents cheered for them in the stands, Dashaun’s dad was kept in a green room. He was hiding out, like he had been all week long, to give his son a surprise he’ll never forget.

“I’m not going to cry. Once they start walking up, the magic will happen,” Sgt. Neuville said just moments before going on stage.

As Dashaun hopped on stage, Sgt. Neuville was there to give his son the diploma.

As his father embraced him, Dashaun doubled over with emotion. The teen is headed to Kutztown University in the fall where he plans to study medicine.

Touching.

Much success to Dashaun as he embarks on this new phase of life.
