Spelman College is considering admitting transgender students, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution

President Mary Schmidt Campbell announced two task forces that will be started to handle separate issues concerning the historically black, all-women institution’s future. One of which will be responsible for considering allowing transgender woman to attend classes.

“Ingrid Hayes, vice president for Enrollment Management will convene a task force that makes a recommendation to the president on the admission and enrollment of transgender students,” read a section of a letter to the Spelman community.

Spelman is far from the first all-women’s institution to consider the measure, given that all of the Seven Sisters schools have already passed policies admitting transgender students.

A decision from both task forces is reportedly expected to be reached by the end of the upcoming school-year.
