Black Transgender Woman’s Death in Cleveland Ruled A Homicide

Brandi Bledsoe, 23, is at least the 23rd transgender person to be murdered this year. Her body was found in a driveway in Cleveland by a five-year-old riding his bike with his older brother.

According to the Advocate, Bledsoe’s death was the result of a gunshot wound to the chest. She was found with plastic bags over her head and both hands. 

New York Post claims Eric Garner’s mother asked NYPD for special favors

The mother of a 43-year-old New York man whose death was ruled a homicide after an encounter with police is saying that she never requested “special favors” from police.

Gwen Carr, a Staten Island resident, responded to a New York Post report that Assistant Chief Edward Delatorre arranged to have police fixed a bad headlight and the ticket connected to it for Carr. Carr is the mother of Eric Garner. Garner died in July of an apparent chokehold when police attempted to arrest him for selling loose cigarettes.

Latandra Ellington was just seven months shy of freedom when she wrote a chilling letter to her aunt from prison.

She told her aunt she feared she wouldn’t make it out alive because one of the officers, identified as “Sgt. Q” had threatened to beat and kill her. 

“He was gone [sic] beat me to death and mess me like a dog,’’ she wrote. “He was all in my face Sqt. Q then he grab his radio and said he was gone bust me in my head with it…’’

The death of a Staten Island man who was put into a choke hold by members of the NYPD was ruled a homicide by the city’s medical examiner.

The incident provoked outrage last month after a witness filmed police placing Eric Garner in an illegal choke hold while arresting him for selling cigarettes illegally.
