‘They Are Still Our Slaves’ author breaks down the demise of black people, continued rise of whites to power
For years, we’ve seen letters claiming to be written by white, racist members of society who have the system of slavery. We may no longer be in chains, but we cannot deny the fact that in many ways, black people remain in bondage.
The latest letter on keeping the black race inferior is one that has a similar tone to the Jim Crow laws. Entitled, “They Are Still Our Slaves,” the note’s author encourages the white race to remain on top while tearing down the weaknesses of black unity.
“We can continue to reap profits from the Blacks without the effort of physical slavery. Look at the current methods of containment that they use on themselves: IGNORANCE, GREED, and SELFISHNESS.
[…]
SELFISHNESS, ingrained in their minds through slavery, is one of the major ways we can continue to contain them […]They will never achieve what we have. Their selfishness does not allow them to be able to work together on any project or endeavor of substance. When they do get together, their selfishness lets their egos get in the way of their goal. Their so-called help organizations seem to only want to promote their name without making any real change in their community.”
Yes letters like this come from a source whose primary objective is to keep African Americans below them, but can we discredit the points being made in this note?
