Unfortunately, we should now accept that Donald Trump will be President of the United States come January 20, 2017 (over a month later I’m still experiencing some disbelief in this truth). But what I won’t accept are his disingenuous attempts to be inclusive and to work for Black people.

Some folks have been crying, “But give him a chance!”, and I would had he not already contradicted himself at every possible opportunity. Recently, the President-elect produced his New Deal for Black America with the hopes that this would prove his commitment to improving our communities. On paper, some of it sounds good and most of it doesn’t – it also doesn’t help his case that he has stacked his cabinet with some of the wealthiest white people in the country.

No, the method to his madness is not sound.  The truth is, he’s not thinking about Black folks. The ideologies of his respective cabinet picks actually go against the needs of Black people. To illustrate this point, I compared Donald Trump’s 10 point plan to that of the Black Panther Party’s. The results are unsurprising: Trump’s program is a total joke.
