A Baltimore City Schools second grader was in the hospital with a broken jaw and missing teeth after an altercation with a tutor.

WBFF reports that Trayvon Grayson was taken to a hospital after a tutor allegedly threw him into a wall while escorting him out of a classroom because he caused a disturbance.

“He can’t throw himself into the wall and fracture his jaw and lose his teeth,” said his mother, Lateekqua Jackson.  “He’s only 7 years old. He’s so small he’s not going to do the damage to himself.”

The tutor, and employee of the City Springs Elementary School charter operator, Baltimore Curriculum Project, told authorities that Grayson lost his footing and “hit himself” on the wall.

“I sent him to school thinking he was going to learn and be protected in their custody. And no one was there to protect him,” Jackson said. “They couldn’t even tell me where my son was. He was on the floor bleeding, knocked out, didn’t know what happened.”

Authorities are investigating the incident and reviewing surveillance footage, although specifics about how Grayson was injured are still unknown.

Update 12/1, 8:00 am CST: According to the Baltimore Patch, Timothy Randall Korr, 25, has been charged with “first and second-degree child abuse, first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and neglect of a minor” in relation to this incident.
