If you’ve ever put any stock into those theories that all of the rich people in the world are friends and secretly plotting to take over the world, you may have found some supporting evidence.

As a billionaire, Donald Trump has received support from a lot of his wealthy friends throughout his campaign for President. Such as when Marvel’s CEO Ike Perlmutter pledged $1 million to the Republican nominee in January and broke nerd hearts everywhere.

The latest billionaire to align themselves with “The Donald” is Peter Thiel, a co-founder for Paypal as well as an investor and board member of Facebook, who donated $1.25 million to the campaign.

According to the New York Times, Thiel also spoke at the Republican National Convention and backed Trump’s claims that he could fix the U.S. economy.

As a result of the news, many people took to Twitter to join the #BoycotPaypal campaign. Unfortunately, the money sharing company was actually sold to Ebay in 2002 and no longer has any involvement from Thiel.

Which begs the question, was the boycott a supposed misfire? Or should people start boycotting Facebook or any of the other many companies Thiel is likely tied to?
