United Airlines is caught up in a whirlwind of controversy after a video shows how security officers forced a passenger off of a flight.

CNBC reports that a flight from Chicago to Louisville was overbooked and the flight crew asked passengers to voluntarily give up their seats and switch flights. After no one obliged, a computer system was used to choose four passengers at random to be forcibly removed.

One of the passengers who was selected was a doctor who refused to leave his seat because he had patients to see in the morning. This is when most of the video recordings of the incident begin to record.

Twitter Reacts to the Video

Suddenly, three security officers are seen standing next the man’s seat before picking him up and dragging him down the aisle by his wrists while other passengers complained.

After passengers waited for two more hours takeoff , the man was allowed back on the flight but his face was reportedly bloody and he seemed disoriented.

“Flight 3411 from Chicago to Louisville was overbooked,” said United in a statement. “After our team looked for volunteers, one customer refused to leave the aircraft voluntarily and law enforcement was asked to come to the gate. We apologize for the overbook situation. Further details on the removed customer should be directed to authorities.”

After footage of the incident was released on Sunday evening, Twitter was full of reactions from the public.
