A few days ago, we broke news that Marissa Alexander was free on bond. The 32-year-old mother of two was sentenced to 20 years in prison for firing a warning shot at her abusive husband. In September, a judge found that information passed down to the jury in error during her initial trial, called for a new trial. Supporters of Alexander have been advocating for her release since the ruling.
Around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night, Alexander was granted a pretrial release with special conditions, according to the Duval County Clerk of Court. Alexander’s bond was set at a total of $200,009 for three separate charges.
The special conditions of Alexander’s release include the following: She must post $200,009 bond, remain under the supervision of the Pretrial Service Program (PCP) at all times, be subject to 24/7 electronic monitoring and remain at home detention under the completion of her case.
