A young black woman was physically assaulted by a Cleveland RTA bus driver before being kicked off the bus.

The driver, a male, can be heard arguing with the teenager before he hits her and throws her off the bus. The entire exchange was captured by a fellow rider.

The clip went viral after it was posted on World Star Hip Hop.

The driver was suspended immediately and, according to International Business Times, has since been terminated.

Although passengers can be heard laughing on the tape, the mood clearly changes once the bus driver strikes the woman. People do attempt to intervene as the bus driver justifies his actions.

Though we understand that this incident might not have been addressed had the passenger not recorded it, we’re wondering:

2. Why has the clip gone viral?

3. How can the driver feel justified in his reaction?
