A church in Dumfries, VA claims that it was the target of racism as flyers promoting hate were found near the entrance on Sunday

Fox5 DC reports that a poster including a figure in a KKK hood and several swastikas was placed on the front door of the Greater Praise Temple Ministries.

“Now that’s white power. Day of the rope is coming [n-word],” read the poster.

“It’s very disturbing … There are a lot of churches in this area,” said Sister Gwen, who has been attending the church of about 30 people for a year and a half. “But for the people of color, we have to go through this – it’s like taking a step back to the 50s and 60s.”

“We are praying for the perpetrators, we are praying for love in the community and not hate,” she said. “We are praying for togetherness and we are praying that they will catch them.”

This is reportedly the first time an incident like this has happened at the small church. Police are investigating it as a possible hate crime, despite taking more than 2 hours to arrive at the scene after receiving the call.
