14 year-old D’Asia Robinson was killed last Saturday after being shot in the head by a stray bullet while riding a city bus.

The NYC teenager and her friends were leaving a sweet 16 party, and on their way to another birthday, when a bullet came through the bus window.

Friends have created vigils for the slain young lady, and the tragedy has sparked renewed calls from community leaders and residents for an end to the senseless violence.

From NewsOne:

Robinson’s friends gathered on the street where she lived to mourn her loss . They made several memorials of Robinson, one near the bus stop where she was killed. One of her friends who was with her before her death was dismayed at the shooting.

“She was happy, she was having fun. We were all dancing with each other – that’s why it’s so shocking,” Tamia McDaniels, friend of Robinson, said. “I was just with her and an hour later, after I left the party, I hear she’s killed – it’s just so unexpected.”

One community leader called on residents to come together and fight for an end to the senseless violence.
