29 Shot, 6 Fatally in Memorial Day Weekend Violence in Chicago
A 15 year-old girl sitting on her boyfriend’s front porch is among the 29 people shot over the Memorial Day weekend in Chicago.
Police say her boyfriend was the intended target.
Overall, 6 people were killed over the weekend.
From the Huffington Post:
All but one of the six homicide victims were shot in the head, according to DNAinfo Chicago report, including 17-year-old Leetema Daniels. Daniels was the youngest to die over the weekend after he and a friend were fired upon in the 400 block of North Central Avenue in the Austin neighborhood Friday.
Though six people were killed, police have already ruled the death of Malcolm Dobbey “justifiable” and are not classifying it as a homicide. According to the Tribune, the 27-year-old was shot in the armpit in the 12100 block of South Indiana Avenue about 2:10 a.m. Sunday.
Horrible.
Our sincerest condolences to all impacted by this violence.
