Has hell officially frozen over?

Nearly four years after the release of the instantly classic Back to Black, and after a never-ending and almost mind-numbingly horrible bout with drugs, arrests, and some serious man trouble, Amy Winehouse may finally be releasing her next album in the not-so-distant future.

According to Rolling Stone, Winehouse spoke with the British Press outside of a film screening for Psychosis, her current boyfriend Reg Traviss’ new film. She says the album will definitely be out in the next six months, and that the general sound of the album won’t be very different from that of Back to Black. According to various sources, Winehouse has been working in the studio with Salaam Remi, a favorite collaborator of hers since her debut album, Frank. Remi and Mark Ronson, whom Winehouse has also worked with recently, split production duties on Back to Black, which sold 3 million copies in the U.S. and was the best-selling album in the world in 2007.

There have also been multiple stories circulating as of late that link Winehouse with The Roots’ ?uestlove and Raphael Saadiq. Of course, that would be fucking amazing.

But just the fact that a new album is coming is good enough for me. First Lauryn Hill seems poised to make her triumphant return to the game at Rock The Bells later this summer; now Amy Winehouse is releasing the follow-up to the best Soul album of the past 5 years within the next six months. What could possibly happen next?

D’Angelo, we’re looking at you.
