‘Atlanta’ Actor Lakeith Stanfield Crashed ‘Silicon Valley’ Stars’ Acceptance Speech
The competition was thick for the Best Comedy Series award at the Critics Choice Awards. The category was filled to the brim with well-received series, including Donald Glover’s Atlanta, which fans and critics alike have raved about for months.
When it was announced that Silicon Valley would walk away with the award, Lakeith Stanfield, who plays ‘Darius’ on the hit how, made sure Atlanta wasn’t completely left out of the conversation.
As Silicon Valley executive producer Tom Lassally walked to the stage to accept the award, Stanfield – who plays the laidback, but surprisingly intelligent, Darius on Atlanta – could be seen approaching from the other side of the room. Soon, he was standing in front of the microphone to the shock of everyone in the room.
“I want to thank everybody for honoring us in this way,” Stanfield said. “We worked very hard on Silicon Valley and here we are. Thank you.”
When Lassally later got to the mic, he addressed the elephant in the room by first saying, “I have no idea who that was.”
As the night continued, Atlanta did get its moment to shine as Donald Glover received the Best Actor in a Comedy Series award.
