Ava DuVernay and Lupita Nyong’o are two of the most talented people in today’s film industry, one a director, the other an actress. Fortunately for many of their fans, they’re both also black women and are great representations of what can be accomplished with opportunity.

The two may now be coming together to work on Amblin Entertainment’s “Intelligent Life” sci-fi film, according to Indiewire.

DeVernay’s had a handful of top projects attached to her name as possible next steps for a few months now. The latest pair were “Intelligent Life,” the story of a low-level U.N. worker making first contact with an alien, and Disney’s “A Wrinkle In Time,” a fantasy story about a girl whose father goes missing after conducting some secret experiments.

Nyong’o is currently in talks to play the alien in “Intelligent Life.” According to Indiewire, this doesn’t mean that DuVernay won’t be able to also direct “A Wrinkle In Time,” which could be saved for a later date.
