In her day, Harriet Tubman was hands down THE baddest woman on the planet.

Imagine escaping slavery – literal bondage – only to turn around and risk life and limb journeying back into the South repeatedly, saving 70 people over the course of 13 trips deep into the belly of the beast.

Tubman also helped plan John Brown’s infamous raid on Harpers Ferry, worked as a Union spy and lead an armed expedition in the Civil War, and was an outspoken advocate for women’s suffrage.

Tubman’s legendary bravery has made her story a source of pride and inspiration for our community. Her legacy teaches us that no odds are too great, and that the human spirit cannot be broken by mere chains and whips.
