Body Cam Footage Released Of Police Detaining Iowa Football Player
By now, stories of Pokemon Go players ending up in all kinds of awkward situations have surfaced, including strolls through mine fields and discovering dead bodies. But a University of Iowa football player recently found himself “”with four gun barrels staring me in the face,” according to his Facebook account of the experience. Body cam footage has now been released to verify his experience, according to ABC.
Local authorities were reportedly looking for a robbery suspect and Faith Ekakitie didn’t hear their initial attempts to make contact due to having his headphones in.
The six-minute video shows officers telling Ekakitie to put his hands in the air as they searched him and even said, “It’s probably not you, but we’ve got to double check.”
“I am not one to usually rant on Facebook or anywhere else, but with all of the crazy things that have been happening in our world these past couple of weeks it is hard to stay silent,” Ekakitie wrote. “I am thankful to be alive, and I do now realize, that it very well could have been me, a friend of mine, my brother, your cousin, your nephew etc.”
He went on to thank for officers for being “very professional” and handling the situation well enough to prevent a “misunderstanding” resulting in him becoming another statistic.
Be careful when you’re trying to catch those Eevees, folks. You never know what description you may or may not fit.
