BET has just announced that D’Angelo will be performing at the 2012 BET Awards.

This will be D’s first televised performance in 12 years.

From Rolling Stone:

“After the success of his 2000 album Voodoo, D’Angelo stepped away from music, but the singer has been rejuvenated lately, performing at Bonnaroo’s Superjam and lining up performances at the Essence Music Festival in early July and the Made in America event in September. Recently, Questlove revealed D’Angelo has recorded around 30 new tracks over the past few years, expressing hope that the singer will release a new album soon.”

Other performers include Nicki Minaj, Usher, and Chris Brown. The show will air on July 1st.
