The man who accused Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash of statutory rape has recanted his story.

Clash maintained his innocence throughout this ordeal.

The accuser “wants it to be known that his sexual relationship with Mr. Clash was an adult consensual relationship,” the boy’s law firm, Andreozzi & Associates, said in a statement Tuesday.

The puppeteer’s accuser brought his story to the Workshop in June, claiming that he had an affair with Clash seven years ago.

He has never been named, and he will “have no further comment on the matter,” the statement continued, according to the New York Times.
