Is Creflo Dollar Wrong to Support Eddie Long? What does friendship got to do with Sexual Violence?

We never think about our frailties when we are receiving the privileges of our entitled position. I think there is accountability to be shared on many levels. And as Bishop Long’s friend, Dollar should encourage him to be both privately and publicly honest about his sexuality and about the misuse of his power. True friends hold your toes to the fire and then are there to bandage your feet. But, what do you think of the video?
Two things trouble me about Rev. Dollars sermon. First, Dollar makes sound like he knows for certain that Long and he are going to heaven. I understand his point, but he is putting himself in the position of God. Second, I do not remember (he may have, but I doubt it) him telling many of the other thousnads who attend his church to go back to their church homes from whence they came. Do we only apply the go back to your church home rhetoric when it is a friend?

What is so troubling about Creflo Dollar Jr.’s defense of Long is the way in which he shifted the role of victim from the accusers to Long. Long isn’t the victim here. He’s the predator. And anyone whose ever had an encounter with a predator knows that it’s best to get away from him or her, quick and in a hurry. We can pray for a predator’s healing, but we can’t condone it. And we certainly can’t allow that person to be our steward…
