Audra McDonald celebrated her sixth Tony Award win on Sunday at the 68th annual Tony Awards, and she made history doing it.

The win makes McDonald the most decorated actress on Broadway.

[McDonald] won best lead actress in a play for her portrayal of Billie Holiday in “Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill,” marking her sixth Tony and making her the biggest Tony winner of all time. She now tops five-time Tony winners Angela Lansbury and the late Julie Harris. McDonald dedicated her honor to the late Holiday, saying, “You deserve so much more than you were given on this planet.”

According to NPR, McDonald “wept openly on the Radio City Music Hall stage as the audience extended its standing ovation. At 43, she has now won Tonys in all four acting categories. ”
