Members of NAACP St. Paul Youth & Collegiate Branch hold protest against school-to-prison pipeline
Members of the St. Paul Youth and Collegiate Branch of the NAACP will hold a protest and rally against the school-to-prison pipeline.
“Unchain our Children” will take place on Wednesday February 26, at Central High School in St. Paul, Minnesota at 12:30pm. The two-hour long protest is connected to a larger project that rejects the school-to-prison pipeline.
By holding workshops on problematic policies, transformative and restorative justice programs for teachers, the branch hopes to highlight the disenfranchisement that takes place due to zero tolerance policies.
The protest and workshops will particularly focus on a deconstruction and reconstruction of the current education structure within Central High School and other educational institutions in The Twin Cities. There will be a sign making party held in preparation for the protest at Augsburg College in the Auggies Nest of the Christensen Center on Thursday February 20th at 2pm.
