Miracle: 2-year-old shot in head during drive-by expected to make a full recovery
Miami-Dade police are investigating a drive-by shooting that left a 2-year-old critically wounded on Sunday.
The shooting occurred around 4:30 a.m. when the boy’s grandfather was carrying him outside his house in an attempt to get the child to go back to sleep.
Somebody pulled up and opened fire. Shabba was hit on the top of his head. His father Andre Davis, who was sitting inside his vehicle, was grazed, police said. “Anybody that can open fire when there’s a baby around, they don’t have no remorse, they don’t have a heart at all, and I just want him brought to justice, that’s all,” said his grandmother, Truda Hanna.
Family members initially said that the shooting happened after there was a knock on the door and the grandfather answered it with the boy in his arms.
Shabba was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he underwent surgery to remove the bullet.
Doctors were keeping Shabba sedated but said that he is expected to make a full recovery.
While we can only hope that senseless acts of gun violence cease, this is great news given the circumstance.
