Three Incredible Women of Color Will Share Nobel Peace Prize

 

The Nobel Prize was awarded today to three incredible women of color!

Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is Africa’s first elected female President, Leymah Gbowee is a Liberian women’s rights activist, and Tawakul Karman is a human rights and pro-democracy activist in her native Yemen.

All three have worked tirelessly for peace, justice and women’s rights.

They are the first women to receive the Nobel Peace Price since the late Wangari Maatthai, who passed away last month.
