Public Allies and Black Male Achievement
In 2011-2012, I was an apprentice in Public Allies. What is Public Allies (besides the best leadership development program in AmeriCorps)? Public Allies’ mission is to advance new leadership to strengthen communities, nonprofits and civic participation. Public Allies is changing the face and practice of leadership in communities across the country by demonstrating our conviction that everyone can lead, and that lasting social change results when citizens of all backgrounds step up, take responsibility, and work together. As a student, I served my community but Public Allies gave me the direction I needed to truly make a difference in the communities i served. Below is my interview with Public Allies about my journey since I completed the program in 2012, black male achievement, and juvenile justice.
