Although Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, starring Jamie Foxx, had an impressive $15 million draw at the Christmas box office, Spike Lee was not one of the moviegoers to purchase a ticket.

Lee refused to see it on the basis that it was “disrespectful.”

Lee gave Vibe and his Twitter followers his two cents on the film:

“I can’t speak  on it ’cause I’m not gonna see it,” Lee told [Vibe]  when asked if he planned to  see the film. “All I’m going to say is that it’s disrespectful to my ancestors.”

But that actually wasn’t all he was going to say.

Lee went on to  give his take on the slavery flick’s subject matter on Twitter Saturday.

“American Slavery Was Not A Sergio Leone Spaghetti  Western. It Was A  Holocaust.My Ancestors Are Slaves. Stolen From Africa. I Will  Honor  Them,” Lee wrote.

Reviews of Django have been largely positive, which is more than we can say about Lee’s latest films. But does Lee have a point? Or is he being a hater?
