Steve Harvey makes jokes about Flint water crisis during radio show
Steve Harvey’s been… polarizing… for quite a while. You can go back as far as the whole problematic “Think Like a Man” campaign or as recent as his willingness to sit down with Donald Trump. He’s always doing something to make you raise an eyebrow or two.
The comedian and television/radio host came under scrutiny this week after making jokes about the Flint water crisis. If that weren’t bad enough, the jokes were made in response to criticisms of the Cleveland Cavaliers from a caller, according to MLive.
A video recording of the broadcast taken from a listener’s car starts with Steve’s co-hosts urging him to apologize for crossing the line.
“I wasn’t talking about the city of Flint,” Harvey told them, “I was talking about him.”
“He gone call in and say Cleveland don’t deserve jack and he over their bathing in all that silver water,” he continued.
The conversation about the exchange continued until Steve realized “Dee from Flinttown” was still on the line. Harvey then took the opportunity to double down and offered one final thought to the caller.
“Enjoy your nice brown glass of water,” Harvey said.
After that, his co-host went on to apologize on behalf of the show and Steve but the deed had already been done.
